The Bhangra Liberation Orchestra makes rebellious, joyful dhol and brass-driven music to fortify our hearts on and off the dancefloor. Rooted in the genres of bhangra, Punjabi folk, qawwali, and jazz, BLO draws from Punjabi ancestral wisdom with a heavy dose of musical improvisation to deliver a clear message of love, unity, and liberation in these times of rising authoritarianism and attacks on the marginalized. Based in Brooklyn, New York, BLO was founded in 2026 by three acclaimed and versatile musicians - singer, trumpet and dhol player Sonny Singh; singer, bass trumpet and keys player Miwi La Lupa, and guitarist Jonathan Goldberger.
